ShotBin

ShotBin is a lightweight screenshot collaboration tool built to fix what’s broken in existing tools.

The Mission

Shotbin was created through frustration with existing tools. Many tools in this space add huge feature lists which cause bloat and complexity, which affects how you use the tool. Often, with all of the features offered, most are executed poorly and distract. These extra features also make it more expensive. Shotbin is built to do what is needed, do it well, and for a fair price.

Design

First up was identity. The logo is clean and minimal but showcases the brand palette. The aim was to not be bland, heavy, and keep the focus on the tool itself. For the tool itself, it needed to look clean and modern, easy to use, and ensure the primary elements take centre stage.

Development

Due to the functionalities and complex nature of the tool, I decided custom was the best route. Built using PHP, JS, MySQL, and various APIs allowed a solid and flexible foundation. This approach allowed me to create a desktop app and work seamlessly with the web app.

Outcome

I built a solid tool which ticks all of the goals set. With web and desktop applications, it works smoothly without any bloat, seamless for web and desktop. It’s a low-cost tool that does exactly what it promises — quick, easy, and reliable.
